Just returned from Las Vegas
And I'm suffering surprisingly little jetlag this time. Previously, when coming back to Europe, what followed was 10 days of exhaustion and disorientation. This time, I took a friend's advice and did NOT go to bed after the 20 hour trip back home, but forced myself to stay awake and finish the day as if I never went away. It's now one day later and nothing seems to bother me. We'll see how it goes from here.
I have a lot of new things to talk about in coming posts. Ofcourse I stayed at the Wynn Resort, which is in a word incredible. I also stayed at the Las Vegas Hilton for a few days, and I spent a lot of time at the Palms hotel and casino. You'll get reports on those, as well as on the Trolley, Green Valley Ranch, the Stratosphere, and many other Las Vegas subjects. This (again) includes being ripped off by cab drivers. Actually, I'm not going to put this off - this guy with cab number 5451 deserves some public exposure.
I took his cab from the Forum Shops to the Palms. As we almost arrived, in front of the casino, about to turn left, I saw the meter at $7.20. When we stopped the meter was off, and he asked me for $10! I was too amazed to really respond. I already had $20 in hand, and had planned to give him $10 anyway (I always tip). He took my $20 and had the audacity to ask how much I wanted back!!! Ofcourse I wanted $10 back. When I stepped out of the car I realised I should be able to identify this guy, so I took his cab number, it's 5451. Later on I noticed in another cab that the drivers have a plaque with their name on the dashboard, so from then on I read it and addressed the drivers by name (first and last) just to make sure they know I just might remember their names.
Anyway... apart from that little incident I had a great time. Watch this space for more!
