The Orleans Las Vegas

December 2005 I stayed at the Orleans Las Vegas. In the summer of that year a friend of mine stayed there, and when I visited I noticed that the rooms were large, nice, and comfortable. Also, the Orleans is a low-priced Hotel with a cinema complex and bowling alley. So when I returned in December I decided to choose the Orleans.
I have to admit that at that particular time, one consideration was cost. The room went for an average of $19 a day! And that includes a weekend. And as said, the room was worth every penny.
What I did learn though was that the location of the hotel was not to my liking. My friend, when he stayed there, had a car with him. Me, coming by plane, did not have one, so I spent a lot of money on taxis whenever I wanted to go somewhere. Once I walked to the strip, but at temperatures hovering around the freezing point that was not a lot of fun. I'll never go to Vegas in december again - lesson learned.
One major good point of the Orleans though was the band. 6 nights a week they have a band playing consisting of two asian guy singers/entertainers, and a bunch of musicians. They play soul-funky hits and put on a hilarious show.
But next time I'll stay on the strip. Be where the action is!
